Blink Charging, a leader in electric vehicle (EV) technology, is amplifying its presence in the manufacturing sector with the launch of a substantial new production facility in Bowie, Maryland. Spanning 30,000 square feet, the establishment marks a significant upscaling in the company’s ability to cater to the burgeoning EV market.
Eco-Friendly Manufacturing Expansion
The eco-friendly footprint of this new facility is notable, with the LEED Gold certification underlining Blink Charging’s commitment to sustainable practices. As the new heartbeat of Blink’s North American operations, this factory is equipped with additional production lines designed to enhance the efficiency and output of EV charger manufacturing.
Commitment to Domestic Manufacturing
In an era when domestic production is increasingly valued, Blink’s Maryland factory represents a strategic pivot towards American manufacturing. This move aligns perfectly with the principles of the Build America, Buy America Act, enabling the company to shift its production focus back to U.S. soil, ensuring quality control, and fostering local job creation.
Blink Charging Sets Up Global Headquarters
Alongside the new factory, Blink Charging is consolidating its corporate leadership by establishing a global headquarters in a 15,000-square-foot space within the same vicinity. Chosen for its strategic proximity to the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., the headquarters will reside in Melford Town Center — a cutting-edge, mixed-use business district.
Maryland Welcomes Blink Charging with Open Arms
The state’s governor, Wes Moore, expressed enthusiasm over Blink’s decision to call Maryland home for both its manufacturing base and global headquarters. Governor Moore emphasized the alignment of Blink Charging’s decision with Maryland’s climate action goals and the anticipated boost to the local economy through job creation and improved competitive positioning.
Quantum Leap in Production Capabilities
Currently, Blink Charging’s manufacturing prowess allows for the production of approximately 15,000 EV charging units annually. However, ambitious expansion plans are set to skyrocket this number to over 50,000 units per annum. This ramp-up will primarily support the assembly of the innovative Level 2 Series 6, Series 7, and Series 8 EV chargers — some of Blink Charging’s flagship products.
