Downtown Area Shared Hubs (DASH), a new organization, has recently launched an affordable ride service in downtown Tampa, Florida. With a fleet of six electric Tesla Model Y SUVs, riders can conveniently book short zero-emissions trips using the DASH app on their iPhones or Android phones. These bright yellow Teslas operate in seven vibrant neighborhoods in downtown Tampa, including the Channel District, River Arts District, Downtown Core, Water Street, Central Park, West Riverfront, and Tampa Heights. Each ride costs $2 per person, and up to four passengers can share a ride.
A Unique Approach to Customer Service
To enhance the rider experience, DASH employs driver-ambassadors who ensure passenger safety and provide a wealth of knowledge about downtown Tampa’s seven distinctive neighborhoods. Trained extensively in driving and safety protocols, these driver-ambassadors also undergo comprehensive training as ambassadors for the downtown area, equipping them to guide riders towards the most exciting destinations and experiences in the city. Additionally, the driver-ambassadors act as vigilant observers, promptly reporting any issues to maintenance staff or law enforcement.
Riding Beyond the Downtown Core
DASH rides currently cater exclusively to the seven neighborhoods in downtown Tampa. However, the service allows riders to explore multiple neighborhoods during a single trip. With approximately 20 strategically located hubs across downtown Tampa, the DASH app determines the most suitable hubs for riders’ pick-up and drop-off locations using GPS, addresses, and intersections. These hubs, although unmarked physically, enable seamless navigation across the city, adapting to evolving demand.

DASH’s mission is to provide accessible and cost-effective transportation options. With a flat rate of $2 per person per ride, riders can efficiently travel between hubs while enjoying the convenience of connecting to other forms of public transportation, such as bus and streetcar stops.
