Honda's Turnaround in the EV Market

Honda has partnered with GM and adopted the Ultium platform for its Prologue and Acura ZDX EV models. Additionally, Honda has been working on its own advanced VR trans-Pacific design strategy to develop vehicles on its own platform. This turnaround is commendable considering the company’s previous position. Now, Honda is sharing more details about the Prologue as it approaches customer availability.

The 2024 Honda Prologue: A Midsize SUV Designed for Adventure

Honda’s Prologue is a midsize all-electric SUV that promises an adventurous driving experience. With its spacious interior and an anticipated EPA range of 300 miles, the Prologue is ready to explore both urban and off-road environments. The vehicle combines a fun-to-drive nature with generous interior space and seamlessly integrates into Honda’s existing lineup.

Pre-Sale and Delivery Details

The Prologue will begin pre-sale activities later this year, with deliveries scheduled for early 2024. The starting price is expected to be in the upper $40,000s, before any applicable government incentives or tax credits.

The Move Towards Zero-Emissions

Lance Woelfer, assistant vice president of Honda National Auto Sales, shares that the Prologue is a significant milestone for Honda as the company transitions to a zero-emissions future. Honda envisions achieving 100% zero emissions vehicle sales by 2040.

An Engaging and Refined Driving Experience

The Prologue offers a sporty driving experience with its powerful dual motor arrangement generating 288 horsepower and 333 lb.-ft. of torque. The vehicle also supports quick DC fast charging and features a 85kWh lithium-ion battery pack for convenient recharging. Custom-tuned Active Sound Control and a Sport mode enhance the overall driving experience.

A Focus on Charging Solutions

Honda provides comprehensive charging options for Prologue customers, both at home and on the road. Customers can choose from three available charging packages, which are included with their vehicle purchase. Honda is also partnering with major automakers to create a brand-neutral high-speed charging network in the US and Canada. With the HondaLink Smartphone App, Prologue owners can access and pay for public charging networks.

Looking Ahead: Honda’s EV Plans

Honda is committed to its electrified future in North America. The company plans to invest $700 million to establish its EV Hub in Ohio, which includes retooling existing plants and building a new EV manufacturing facility. Honda is also partnering with LGES to construct a joint venture EV battery plant in Fayette County, Ohio.
