VinFast, the progressive Vietnamese carmaker, has officially launched its latest electric vehicle, the VF 6. This B-segment sports utility vehicle is the sixth electric vehicle to be released domestically, joining VinFast’s lineup of electric cars which includes the VF e34, VF 8, VF 9, and VF 5.
The VF 6: A Strategic Model for VinFast’s Electric Vehicle Lineup
The VF 6 is a key addition to VinFast’s electric vehicle lineup and represents the company’s next strategic model. Designed by the renowned Italian Torino Design House, the VF 6 offers a spacious and comfortable interior, powerful performance, and a wide range of smart technologies and features. It comes in two models: the Base and Plus, with the differences between them mainly in trim and automated features.
Both the Base and Plus models of the VF 6 are covered by VinFast’s after-sales policies, including a 7-year or 160,000 km warranty, Special Aftersales Policies, and a unique battery subscription service. VinFast also has a commitment to buying back used electric cars after five years at an attractive price.
Incentives for Early Reservations
As the VF 6 is initially a domestic model with plans for future exports, customers who make a reservation for the car will receive incentives of up to VND 20 million (~$822). Reservations can be made starting from October 20 until midnight of October 30, 2023, and customers must complete the purchase within three months from the reservation date. It’s important to note that any changes in the names of owners in the purchase will void the incentive.
Showroom Display and Delivery
The VF 6 has been on display at VinFast showrooms around Vietnam since September 30, 2023. Customers have the opportunity to see the car before making their decision to order. Deliveries to Vietnamese customers are expected to begin by the end of this year.
Stylish Design and Color Options
The VinFast VF 6 stands out with its stylish design, which includes a distinctive LED light strip and attractive 19-inch, 5-spoke alloy wheels. It measures 4,238mm long, 1,820mm wide, and 1,594mm tall, providing a spacious interior space equivalent to most C-segment ICE cars.
The VF 6 offers a variety of exterior and interior color options to suit the preferences of customers. Exterior colors include five options, while interior colors include two, with the addition of the standout Mocca Brown choice that adds a touch of luxury and style.
Premium Performance and Advanced Safety Features
Both the Base and Plus trims of the VF 6 are powered by a 59.6 kWh LFP battery, providing a range of up to 399 km and 381 km on a full charge (WLTP). The electric motor delivers 100 kW and 150 kW of power, along with respective torque outputs of 135 Nm and 310 Nm, ensuring exciting performance for all passengers.
In early 2024, the VF 6 Plus will receive a free over-the-air update that adds the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). This update will bring a suite of advanced safety features to the VF 6 Plus, including traffic jam assist, highway assist, lane keep assist, lane centering assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and front/rear automatic emergency braking.
Battery Subscription Service and Pricing
With VinFast’s battery subscription service, buyers can save up to $4,000 and have hassle-free ownership by paying a small fee for battery maintenance. Under this program, the Base model costs VND 675 million ($27,772) and the Plus model costs VND 765 million ($31,500). Without the battery subscription, the prices are VND 765 million ($31,500) for the Base model and VND 855 million ($35,105) for the Plus model.
Temporary Hold on Export Plans
The plans to export the VF 6 are currently on hold, as there is expected to be a high demand in the Vietnamese market following the announcement of its release. The VF 6 will be manufactured in the VinFast factory in Hai Phong. Additionally, VinFast is working on developing an electric pickup truck for the Thailand market.
