SEIA Appoints Stacy Ettinger as Senior VP of Supply Chain and Trade

The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) has recently announced the appointment of Stacy Ettinger as the organization’s new senior vice president of supply chain and trade. Ettinger, an accomplished attorney, will be responsible for leading SEIA’s international trade portfolio and efforts to strengthen the solar and storage supply chain in the United States.

Advocating for Free and Fair Trade

Starting in November, Ettinger will oversee SEIA’s initiatives to advocate for free and fair trade, promote sustainability, and ethically improve labor practices within the solar industry. Despite the rapid growth of the solar and storage sector, trade and tariff disputes have hindered its progress. SEIA president and CEO Abigail Ross Hopper expressed excitement about Ettinger’s appointment, stating, “I’m honored to welcome a brilliant legal mind like Stacy’s to help us navigate the evolving clean energy supply chain and advocate for policies that will help solar manufacturing thrive in America.”

Extensive Legal Experience

Ettinger brings over three decades of legal experience to SEIA. She has served in various roles in the public and private sectors, including working as a trade negotiator, advisor, and litigator at the U.S. Department of Commerce for 15 years. She then spent nearly a decade as a senior legal and policy advisor to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. Most recently, she served as a partner at K&L Gates, leading the firm’s international trade policy practice.

Regarding her new role, Ettinger said, “Solar and storage infrastructure are an integral part of our nation’s energy future, and I am honored to be joining the SEIA team at a critical time for this growing American industry. I look forward to working with our members and coalition partners to build a robust domestic manufacturing industry and resilient solar supply chain.

Paving the Way for Domestic Solar Manufacturing

SEIA has played a significant role in passing the Inflation Reduction Act, which has led to the establishment of nearly 60 new or expanded solar manufacturing facilities over the past year. These facilities have the potential to employ tens of thousands of workers and bring the industry closer to its goal of achieving 50 gigawatts of domestic solar manufacturing capacity by 2030.
